Cerebrux: FAQ

Table of Contents

Why use Cerebrux over something like ChatGPT?

Cerebrux is not trying to replace or directly compete with ChatGPT, but rather offer easy-to-use access to AI in a private and offline package.

How does it work?

Cerebrux does not use the ChatGPT or similar APIs. Instead, it uses the same kind of technology that powers ChatGPT and other LLMs (Large Language Models), but smaller and optimized for mobile devices.

Cerebrux+ is an additional, optional subscription that unlocks access to remote LLMs like ChatGPT.

How is it more secure/private?

All processing is done locally on your device, so none of your data is sent to the cloud or stored anywhere. That means no one but you can access your conversations.

Why do my messages disappear?

The app is designed to be lightweight and efficient, and most importantly, private. Conversations are ephemeral and are not stored anywhere.

Why are the responses sometimes incorrect or not helpful?

In order to run efficiently on mobile devices, the “brain” of Cerebrux is much smaller and has fewer parameters than the ones powering large LLMs like ChatGPT. This means that sometimes it may not give perfect answers, especially for complex questions or long conversations.

What are the limitations?

Cerebrux is optimized for short text-based conversations and quick responses. It’s not designed to be a comprehensive AI assistant or a ChatGPT killer, but rather a fast and private way to interact with AI. Because processing is done locally on your device, it uses more battery than something like ChatGPT that’s running on a server in the cloud.
